CountryTalk
So far WorldTalk has developed activities in three countries.
In South Africa we have run an end-user
survey in villages in KwaZulu Natal, to assess the need for certain
types of information and services. We have also carried out a technical
test. Currently we are raising funding and support to carry out a 6-month
pilot project.

people in the end-user communities,
KwaZulu Natal, South Africa".
In India we have recently finished an end-user
survey combined with a technology test, sponsored by Cable and Wireless UK. The survey took place the in January and February 2005 in three locations, namely
Sirsa (in the state Haryana), Madhubani (in the state Bihar) and Mallapuram
(in the state Kerala).
The survey was done in collaboration with Drishtee,
a Delhi-based organisation which sets up Information kiosks across India,
aimed to give rural communities access to information and government
services. It is carried out by Drishtee Foundation. One of the three survey places will be the location for
a subsquent pilot project.
Please contact us if you would like to receive a copy of the full report of the survey, which will be available from mid March 2005.

We have also explored possibilities in Vietnam,
but circumstances are not favourable enough yet to run a pilot project.
